Savory Breakfast Sausage Tart
| Ingredients |
| 1 homemade or ready-to-bake pie shell |
| 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil |
| 1/4 Cup onion, chopped |
| 1/2 Pound TURKEY BREAKFAST SAUSAGE, casings removed |
| 2 eggs |
| 1 Cup half-and-half |
| 10 Ounces frozen cut asparagus, thawed and drained |
| 2 roasted red peppers, cut into 1/4-inch strips |
| 1/4 Cup Parmesan cheese, grated |
| 1 Tablespoon parsley, minced |
| 1 Tablespoon chives, minced |
| 1/2 Teaspoon salt |
| 1/4 Teaspoon black pepper |
| |
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Bake pie shell for 10 minutes according to package directions. Set aside to cool.
- Heat oil in medium skillet over medium heat. Add onion and saute until softened, about 3 to 5 minutes.
- Add sausage and continue to cook, breaking up sausage until browned and no longer pink, about 5 minutes; transfer sausage mixture to medium bowl.
- Beat eggs and half-and-half together in a large bowl. Stir in sausage mixture, asparagus, roasted peppers, cheese, parsley, chives, salt and pepper.
- Pour into baked pie shell. Bake until custard is set, about 30-40 minutes. Transfer to wire rack, cool about 10 minutes before serving.
