Savory Turkey Sausage Pinwheels

Ingredients
2-1/4 Cups all-purpose flour
1/2 Teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1/2 Teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 Teaspoon dried basil
1/3 Cup vegetable shortening
2/3 Cup milk
1/4 Cup spicy brown mustard, divided
2 Packages (1-1/2 Pounds) TURKEY BREAKFAST SAUSAGE, casings removed and crumbled
 
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Mix flour, salt, baking powder, herbs, shortening and milk as for biscuits. Divide dough in half.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll each piece 1/4-inch thick. Spread evenly with mustard.
  4. Spread crumbled turkey sausage evenly over each piece of dough. Beginning at one end, roll dough up to enclose filling, jelly-roll style.
  5. Slice 1/4-inch thick and bake on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Makes about 6 dozen appetizers. Serve 3 per portion.
