Savory Turkey Sausage Pinwheels
| Ingredients |
| 2-1/4 Cups all-purpose flour |
| 1/2 Teaspoon salt |
| 1 Tablespoon baking powder |
| 1/2 Teaspoon dried oregano |
| 1/2 Teaspoon dried basil |
| 1/3 Cup vegetable shortening |
| 2/3 Cup milk |
| 1/4 Cup spicy brown mustard, divided |
| 2 Packages (1-1/2 Pounds) TURKEY BREAKFAST SAUSAGE, casings removed and crumbled |
| |
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Mix flour, salt, baking powder, herbs, shortening and milk as for biscuits. Divide dough in half.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll each piece 1/4-inch thick. Spread evenly with mustard.
- Spread crumbled turkey sausage evenly over each piece of dough. Beginning at one end, roll dough up to enclose filling, jelly-roll style.
- Slice 1/4-inch thick and bake on a lightly greased baking sheet.
- Bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Makes about 6 dozen appetizers. Serve 3 per portion.
