Turkey Industry Commends Senate Agriculture Committee on Farm Bill Passage
The National Turkey Federation (NTF) today applauded the Senate Committee on Agriculture for their quick movement in passing the 2013 Farm Bill legislation. The committee passed the bill by a vote of 15 to 5. The bill will now go to the Senate floor for further action.
“The National Turkey Federation thanks Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Ranking Member Thad Cochran (R-MS) for leading the initiative on this critical piece of agricultural policy,” said Damon Wells, Senior-Vice President of Government Relations for the NTF. “We look forward to the House following suit – it is important for our members and for rural America that we get a bill to the President for his signature.”
The 2013 Farm Bill, which expires in September, is the legislation that authorizes significant food, conservation, energy, trade, marketing, food assistance and rural development programs for a period of five years.
The House Agriculture Committee will mark up its version of the Farm Bill on May 15.
