National Turkey Federation Tosses Up Dozens of Main Dish Salad Recipes on WWW.EATTURKEY.COM
Operators seeking to join growing salad trend now have an expanded resource

Washington, D.C. (August 2003) - The National Turkey Federation (NTF) announced today that it has broadened its database of entrée salad recipes on www.eatturkey.com in response to renewed interest in the growing menu category. According to the NPD Group, a New York-based market research firm, orders for entrée salads in fast food operations increased 12 percent from June 2002 to May 2003. Foodservice professionals looking to join this trend can now turn to www.eatturkey.com for more than 80 fresh salad preparations developed by chefs and culinarians from restaurants, NTF member companies and institutions.

"Turkey is a very lean protein so it's a perfect choice for main dish salads," comments Sherrie Rosenblatt, NTF's director of public relations. "Restaurateurs will find that it costs less per pound than most other proteins so it yields a more attractive food cost. And, its subtle flavor blends easily with many combinations of ingredients so it works as well in a Turkey Tortilla Salad as it does in a Turkey Satay Salad."

To access the collection of turkey salads, operators can log onto www.eatturkey.com, click on the "foodservice" section and then on "what's new." To connect to the salad page, look for the headline, "Salads are making the ranks at www.eatturkey.com." Turkey Spinach Salad, Thai Turkey Salad and Turkey Carnitas Mesclun Salad are just three of the recipes showcased on the salad feature page, which also links to the full database of salads and more than 600 foodservice recipes.

The National Turkey Federation is the advocate for all segments of the U.S. turkey industry. It's award winning web site www.eatturkey.com offers successful on-line professional chef cooking demonstrations and a searchable database of more than 300 recipes that exhibit turkey's versatility as a profit-building item, which enhances menus in all meal occasions during every season of the year. Operators can also go to www.eatturkey.com to sign up for the RecipE-mail program to register and receive unique recipe ideas that add flair to holiday and special occasion menus year-round.
