The National Turkey Federation (NTF) announced the top five most-viewed foodservice recipes from its popular recipe database at EatTurkey.com. Foodservice professionals recognize the web site as a primary resource for successful turkey menu ideas, with more than 800 foodservice-specific recipes available. Nearly 340,000 foodservice recipes were viewed at the site this year, a 30 percent increase from 2005.
There were two exciting newcomers to the 2006 most-viewed recipe results: Blanc Turkey Chili and Turkey Vegetable Lasagna. The remaining three recipes are notably popular, having consistently topped the charts for the past few years. The five most-viewed foodservice recipes on www.EatTurkey.com for 2006 are:
- Creamy Turkey Soup
- Turkey Vegetable Soup
- Blanc Turkey Chili
- Turkey Vegetable Lasagna
- Bourbon Smoked Turkey Wrap
“Creamy Turkey Soup has stood out as a favorite among foodservice operators,” comments Sherrie Rosenblatt, NTF's vice president of marketing and communication. “All five dishes underscore the impressive versatility of turkey in dining establishments – from the light and healthy, to the hearty and comforting, for appetizers or entrées – operators continue to find turkey to be a successful addition to their menus.”
The year’s most popular recipes demonstrate turkey as an effective means to meet the rapid fluctuation of taste and diet trends, such as bolder flavors and healthier dishes. With consumers spending more of their budget on away-from-home foods and looking for greater menu variety, the www.EatTurkey.com recipe database is a valuable resource for chefs and operators.
