Ground Turkey, Turkey Tenderloins and Cutlets: Easy to Prepare and Healthy Options for Diners
NTF survey shows that consumers prefer ground turkey and turkey breast cuts

A recent online survey conducted by the National Turkey Federation (NTF) found that consumers are looking for a wider variety of turkey products when dining out. Ground turkey was a favorite, topping the list for 67 percent of respondents, followed by such special breast cuts as turkey tenderloins and cutlets at 61 percent.
"Turkey is no longer thought of as simply a once-a-year protein. With an extensive variety of turkey products available to foodservice operators, preparation is considerably easier," comments Sherrie Rosenblatt, NTF's senior director of marketing and communication. "For patrons who are looking for lower fat, more nutritious options, ground turkey is growing in popularity for items such as meatloaf and burgers."
With so many raw and fully cooked products available, foodservice operators have a choice when it comes to what to serve. Turkey is a perfect protein because it is perceived by consumers to be a lower-fat, higher protein center-of-the plate option and operators favor turkey because of its ease in preparation, versatility and adaptability.
Foodservice operators can search through about 75 recipes that call for ground turkey on www.eatturkey.com. There are also hundreds of turkey tenderloin and cutlet recipes available. Try Turkey Shiitake Loaf with Chipotle Barbecue Sauce, which is a jazzed up meatloaf that combines ground turkey, shiitake mushrooms and bell peppers smothered in warm Chipotle barbecue sauce.
