The National Turkey Federation (NTF) kicks
off its latest initiative to highlight the growing popularity of turkey across
cuisines and market segments with its "Virtual Menu 2003" program in February
on www.eatturkey.com.
The campaign will focus on new menu trends as well as turkey's success in independent
and family establishments and its growth in fast casual restaurants, with Arby's
Market Fresh Roast Turkey and Swiss
sandwich leading the way.
"The National Turkey Federation is
thrilled to have Arby's - a perennial leader in the foodservice industry
- as a partner in launching our new interactive program," comments Sherrie
Rosenblatt, NTF's director of public relations. "'Virtual Menu 2003' will
offer operators new and innovative applications for trends such as sandwiches,
salads, soups and ethnic dishes, confirming that turkey products help build
a successful menu."
Each month a different turkey trend
will be featured on www.eatturkey.com with
selected foodservice operations - from independents to national chains -
offering a popular turkey item from their menu, as well as a plate shot,
food costs when available, and a discussion with a restaurant representative
on the benefits of turkey and why they choose to serve it. Once a dish has
been featured, it will be added to a "Virtual Menu Classroom" page and will
continue to be linked to NTF's recipe database. There foodservice professionals
can access not only the new menu items but also a library of more than 450
innovative turkey applications and 30 celebrity chef demonstrations.
The National Turkey Federation (NTF) is the national advocate for all segments of the turkey industry, providing services and
conducting activities that increase demand for its members' products by protecting and enhancing their ability to profitably
provide wholesome, high-quality, nutritious products. Its award-winning web site, www.eatturkey.com,
offers consumers, food professionals and the media an extensive library of information including healthy eating and restaurant
trends, turkey cuts and purchasing tips, turkey nutrition and cooking techniques, and turkey facts and trivia. Additionally,
the site presents a searchable database of more than 1,500 recipes, offers a recipe E-mail program and provides special
seasonal and holiday ideas. The National Turkey Federation is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
