There’s sure to be a pre-game celebration with National Turkey Federation’s (NTF) new twist on the turkey hot dog. NTF’s how-to cooking video on EatTurkey.com features John McLemore, president of Masterbuilt, who grills up an “el macho” hot dog with all the “fixins.”
“Nothing’s more American than turkey and what better protein to throw on the grill for a tailgate party,” said McLemore. “A wide variety of turkey products are available in the marketplace today and they cook fast enough on the grill that they won’t have you missing kick off.”
In the video, McLemore toasts up a hot dog bun and then tops it with Cheddar cheese, spicy mustard, salsa, diced jalapeño peppers and chopped onions. After reaching an internal temperature of 165 degrees F, the turkey dog is grilled to perfection and is ready for everyone at the tailgate. The “El Macho” twist will stand out during fall sports festivities.
Just in case game-goers were missing their traditional burger, Masterbuilt’s vice president Don McLemore shows how to grill a turkey burger that will leave fans cheering for more. The juicy turkey burgers are topped with Cheddar cheese, grilled onion, spicy mustard, lettuce and tomato.
“Masterbuilt demonstrates how a lean protein can be jazzed up for tailgating parties,” said Sherrie Rosenblatt, NTF’s vice president of marketing and communications. “Choosing turkey hot dogs and turkey burgers will spare additional fat grams and leave more room for your favorite beverage.”
