Chef Jimmy Sneed
Chef Jimmy Sneed recalls a successful carrot cake as his first true "culinary inspiration" at the age of 12. These days, he can be found concocting other crowd-pleasing creations at The Frog and the Redneck in Richmond, VA, where the friendly bistro-like atmosphere is conducive to enjoyment and having fun.
Chef Sneed, a self-proclaimed redneck, admits to being a simple person, with a profound respect for food. Perhaps it is that respect, which inspires him to make mouthwatering entrees such as his Turkey Leg Stuffed with Shittake Mushrooms and Turkey Bacon, a favorite on the menu in Richmond along with another popular turkey dish dubbed Redneck Veal.
Chef Sneed is noted for and is a frequent author and guest speaker at discussion panels that address regional American foods & French food. He named The Frog and the Redneck as a tribute to the French culinary contribution to modern cuisine and specifically for Chef Jean Louis Palladin, Chef Sneed's former employer and mentor.
Chef Sneed has since appeared with Julia Child on her Master Chef TV series and in 1995 Chef Sneed was nominated as one of the James Beard Awards' Best American Chefs.
